About Picnic Week
Nine days in June set aside for eating outdoors with the people you like most, built around International Picnic Day. It started in the UK in 2010.
How it started
The week began in the UK in 2010 as a way to get people back into their parks and green spaces at the start of summer. Each year brands, charities and broadcasters have joined in with tips, research and competitions. In 2017 alone the week was covered 90 times across national and regional papers, radio and online.
Why June
June brings the longest days of the year and, usually, some of the best weather for eating outside. The week always takes in International Picnic Day on 18 June. In the United States, July is also National Picnic Month. Because most people picnic at weekends, it runs from one Saturday to the Sunday of the following week. This year that is Saturday 12 to Sunday 20 June 2027.
What happens during the week

Who runs it
Picnic Week is run by Digital Alchemy FZ-LLC, which owns and manages a group of awareness campaigns. Its media work is delivered with Relations Group, the UK broadcast PR agency behind the week’s radio and TV coverage.
